........
Most likely, Jared Goff is the Lions starting QB when the 2021 regular season begins. Beyond that point in time, there's much more uncertainty.

Still puzzled how quick this trade has been agreed !
David, what's your take on this trade for both sides ?

Jared Goff’s physical is “coming soon”
........
I think it's highly likely the trade goes through in it's current form. There's a low % chance the trade is adjusted if the Lions have a medical concern about Jared Goff after examining him and taking tests. I would be extremely surprised if the deal is called off.

Frenchy, I thought a Matthew Stafford trade would happen sooner rather than later. But I didn't think a trade would be completed as early as last night. The Lions clearly wanted to have clarity ASAP.
I think it's a good trade for both teams. Knowing Matthew Stafford wanted to be traded, being able to get two future 1st Round picks, a 3rd Round Pick in the 2021 Draft, and a QB who is better than the veterans expected to be on the open market ( and doesn't turn 27 until October ) is a favorable outcome for the Lions. This is even factoring in Jared Goff's contract.
For the LA Rams, they get a QB who still has tremendous passing skills and also brings with him a strong work ethic. The Rams window to win a Super Bowl with Aaron Donald at an elite or near elite level is likely no more than 3 seasons. The Rams will probably have a rebuild in a few seasons. But if they end up winning at least one Super Bowl, it probably would be worth multiple consecutive lean seasons later this decade. It will be a difficult task for the Rams to win a Super Bowl. Yet, with Stafford, they have a noticeably better chance than if they didn't make the trade.

Thanks David.
If I do remember well, against the Packers, the Rams defense (more than the offense) was accountable for the elimination, they weren't able to stop Rodgers & Co !
Anyway, this trade puts more pressure on Stafford's shoulders than on Goff's. Stafford has to produce right here, right now !
The following poll doesn't mean much, but the Lions fans seem to appreciate this trade, or maybe they like the idea of a fresh start ?

My pleasure, Frenchy.
Being that the Rams Defense gave up 484 yards to the Packers, including 188 yards on the ground, and didn't sack Aaron Rodgers in the game, the result of the game was highly likely. That much more with the Rams pass protection on Offense being problematic. How many of the 4 sacks could have realistically being avoided is something I plan on checking in the foreseeable future. Jared Goff and the Rams Offense as a whole didn't turn the ball over. The Packers also had a turnover free game.
I agree that there's more pressure on Matthew Stafford moving forward than Jared Goff. It's not even close. Expectations in the Rams organization and with the overwhelming majority of Rams fans are going to be through the roof.
The fresh start ( long term approach ), combined with the trade package the Lions received from the Rams are why I believe most Lions fans are very pleased with the results of the trade with the Rams.

LA Rams Trade Jared Goff for Matt Stafford!!! - Instant Analysis | LA Rams Talk
......
I highly recommend this 50 minute video if you have the time to listen to the commentary. The person who spoke is highly knowledgeable about the Rams and communicates very well.
His takes on Jared Goff as a QB aren' t favorable for the most part. What he mentioned is well worth paying attention to, if as expected Jared Goff is with the Lions for at least the 2021 season. Including, lack of mobility, lack of pocket presence, has many balls deflected despite being 6'4", struggles to improvise, and high turnover frequency. He believes Goff is responsible for at least 3 of the Rams losses in the 2020 season.

Thanks for sharing, interesting commentary. Maybe a bit biased ? I don't think Jared Goff is as bad as he says, nor Stafford as good as he thinks. Stafford is a nice addition but if Sean McVay is asking for mobility, he is not the perfect fit. By the way, I would take Aaron Rodgers anytime over Stafford.
One week ago, everybody was talking about Brad Holmes as a scouting freak : "Holmes led draft efforts that resulted in the pick of players like two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, safety John Johnson III, running back Todd Gurley, quarterback Jared Goff and safety Jordan Fuller."
He must have seen something special in Jared Goff, and still believes in him for bringing him to Detroit.

Troy Aikman, Mike Silver at odds over Jared Goff criticism
....
It's crystal clear that Sean McVay wanted to go in another direction at QB. It's best for Jared Goff to be out of LA. Goff will very likely get another opportunity as an NFL starter, either with the Lions this season or if the Lions trade him to another team.

Interesting commentary, indeed.
There probably is some bias in the video commentary, though I believe this Rams fan tried hard to be objective with his analysis.
My take on Matthew Stafford is he has good pocket mobility but average at best mobility outside the pocket.
IMHO, Aaron Rodgers is a top 10 all-tine NFL QB. I felt this way for well over a decade. As much as I respected Brett Favre as an opposing divisional opponent, it took less than two seasons of Rodgers as a starter for me to rank Rodgers ahead of Favre in terms of his play. Favre made far many more risky decisions that proved costly for his team. Rodgers provides the spectacular playmaking dimension with calculated risks that the vast majority of time worked in the Packers favor.
If not for the age factor, I would take Rodgers over Stafford by a wide margin. The difference in age and Rodgers giving the impression that he could walk away from the NFL, before his skills substantially decline, makes the preference decision moving forward difficult for me. I'm not sure which QB I would choose from this moment on.
It's likely that Brad Holmes still sees Jared Goff in a much more favorable light than most people that have watched Goff do. Yet, the acquisition of Goff provides the Lions with benefits such as more draft flexibility, a better option to start in 2021 than probably will be on the open market, and possible trade compensation if Holmes determines that the trade price a team is willing to pay for the Lions for Goff exceeds Goff's value to the Lions.

Ndamukong Suh: Detroit Lions-Rams trade 'interesting;' coach Dan Campbell 'a great guy
...........
Kudos to Ndamukong Suh for deflecting the 2 point conversion the Packers attempted against the Bucs in the recent NFC Championship Game. That play had a huge impact on the game, after WR Equanimeous Brown didn't secure the ball.
I appreciate that Suh reached out to Jared Goff after the trade, offering him help with his adjustment to Detroit.
I totally forgot about Suh's high praise of Goff from October,2018 until seeing this article. That was around the time Goff had a great performance in a Thursday Night win over the Vikings. Kirk Cousins had one of his best games as well that evening, especially when factoring in it was against the Rams Defense.
