Jared Goff was the worst QB in 2020 with pre-snap motion
.......
Being that Jared Goff performed better in Sean McVay's Offense in earlier seasons, I'm far from convinced that pre-snap motions are problematic for Goff. Personnel issues surrounding Goff very likely adversely impacted Goff's performance in the last couple of seasons. In addition, McVay's Offensive system might have become more predictable. Especially, when the LA Rams struggled to run the ball effectively.

A related thought comes to mind.
It's possible that under most outcomes of the 2021 season, Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell decided that Jared Goff will be given two seasons to demonstrate whether he will be considered a long term solution for the Lions. With the plan being to substantially upgrade the Lions WR corp in 2022.

If the Lions Offensive Line performance level is even close to the LA Rams Offensive Line performance level in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Jared Goff should hold up his end of the bargain. Whether that will be good enough for the Lions to be a major surprise team in the 2021 season will probably then come down to the play of the Lions WRs.

Lions QB Jared Goff ignoring outside noises, setting high expectations
.......
This is the approach Jared Goff and Lions players should take. As the Lions starting QB, a position that leadership is an essential component, it's good to see that Goff is taking this approach.
Having said this, the Lions going with ultra youth at CB and with rookies starting at RT ( Penei Sewell ) and NT ( Alim McNeill ), likely will lead to major growing pains for the Lions.

I agree, it's not the first time that he does just that, trying to force / get rid of the ball when there in nothing but a sack. A nasty and dangerous habit :/

Jared Goff ranking last in average pass target yards per completion is likely for a combination of reasons:
1. Jared Goff being cautious more than moat NFL QBs.
2. The Lions RBs and TE T.J. Hockenson are better receivers at their respective positions than the Lions WRs are at their respective positions.
3. The approach of Anthony Lynn.
