As a professional, it's up to him not to whine but put that forced trade behind him and think forward, his career is at stake.

Agreed! Yet, we have seen many players in the NFL and sports in general that fail to do this. in these cases, the end result usually doesn't turn out well for the player and his new team.
One reason why I'm optimistic that Jared Goff will be focused on being the best QB / player he can be for the Lions is the support and confidence Brad Holmes has shown in Goff.
Having said this, if the Lions end up drafting a QB in the 1st Round of the 2021 Draft, Goff will be well aware that his long term NFL future probably won't be with the Lions. He will still need to be focused on the 2021 season.

Jared Goff finally gives the Detroit Lions a quarterback who knows how to win
......
One question in which the answer could determine whether Jared Goff has a long term future with the Lions is how does he respond if the Lions get off to a allow start in the 2021 season and / or hit a rough stretch during the season? Will Goff's confidence remain through the type of adversity he didn't face the last 4 seasons with the LA Rams?
Leadership from the QB position is practically always important. The importance is magnified substantially with the Lions, which hasn't even been in the NFC playoff race late in the last 3 seasons. With the franchise not even winning a playoff game in the lifetime of most of the players with the Lions.

Lions restructure Jared Goff's contract, convert salary to massive bonus
What you need to know about the Detroit Lions restructuring Jared Goff’s contract
What Jared Goff's contract restructure means for his future with Detroit Lions .........
My take at least for now is somewhat different than the Lions media person regarding Jared Goff/ 2022 season. It appears that the Lions can still move on from Goff in 2022. The difference is the Lions would responsible for the remainder of Goff's unused portion of the signing bonus ( $ 15 million ). What I'm not sure about is whether the Lions can designate Goff as a post June 1, 2022 salary cap casualty. Hence, only $5 million of the bonus would be applied to the. 2022 Salary Cap ( not counting the $ 15.5 million in guaranteed salary which was already on the Lions 2022 cap books.... barring the Lions trading Goff ). With the remaining $10 million of unused bonus money being applied to the Lions 2023 salary cap. I can't think of a reason why the Lions can't get the 2022 season benefit of Goff being designated a post-June 1 cap casualty, if the Lions decide to release him in 2022.
While the Lions now have one of the better Salary Cap situations for 2021, $15 million in future cap cost has been added to the Lions salary cap. Even with the NFL Salary Cap likely going up substantially in the coming seasons, I am concerned that the $ 15 million will be applied to one or more seasons in which the Lions have a better chance of winning than in the 2021 season.
Some of the 2021 Lions salary cap will very likely be unused, hence applied to 2022. How much will go along way in whether I believe Brad Holmes made a good decision freeing up $ 15 million in salary cap space for 2021.

The Jared Goff-Sean McVay breakup and what the Lions can learn from it
.....
It's not only Jared Goff who Sean McVay moved on from in the last couple of years, despite an overall track record of success with the LA Rams. After the 2019 season, McVay moved on from DC Wade Phillips, who helped keep the Rams in the Super Bowl game against the Patriots the season prior. Brandon Staley turned out to be a great replacement for Phillips, in his one season with the Rams. That success led to Staley becoming the LA Chargers HC. McVay is banking on Matthew Stafford to be the QB version of Staley but for several seasons.

......
An X factor on what's ahead for Jared Goff is the effect of the Lions new Offense, compared to the LA Rams Offense played in under Sean McVay. It's not a given that Goff will continue to be amongst the leaders of NFL QBs throwing to Slot targets.

Breshad Perriman: Jared Goff’s arm talent is crazy
......
It's good to see that Breshad Perriman connected with Jared Goff and that Perriman thinks highly of Goff's physical abilities. Practically, no one will compare Goff favorably to former Bucs / current Saints QB Jameis Winston, when it comes to arm strength. Yet, Perriman still is highly impressed with Goff's arm strength, even though he was on the receiving end of some of Winston's passes in the 2019 season.

Jared Goff: Not drafting a QB 'a nice vote of confidence' by Detroit Lions
.......
I'm anticipating a primary theme for Lions players this coming season, is to try to prove to those that pay attention to the NFL, that this is a much better team, with much better players than the perception. With Jared Goff the player on the team who could make the most positive difference for the Lions if he disproves his many critics.

Spread principles
..........
Hopefully, the end result of the Lions Offense in 2021 will be a balanced attack, that has the versatility to take advantage of opportunities.

Jared Goff fits squarely in the 'solid' tier of NFL quarterbacks
.........
Entering the 2021 season, Jared Goff belongs somewhere in the middle tier of NFL starting QBs.
If the Lions running game and Defense are much better on a consistent basis than was the case during most of the time Matthew Stafford was with the Lions, Goff will probably have better team results than Stafford did.
A couple of key factors working against Goff are the transition / adjustment associated with all of the changes the Lions made and the Lions WR corp, which has more questions than answers.

Jared Goff having fun building rapport with his Lions receivers
.....
Hopefully, Jared Goff and the Lions WRs, TE's, and RBs will have more workouts together prior to training camp. ( I'm not sure if any of the RBs participated in the earlier workouts. ). Between a new Offensive System and mostly new Lions skill players, it's safe to assume that they need the work together that much more than the skill player units on the vast majority of other NFL teams need.
