2 specialists make Detroit Lions’ expanded practice squad
............
The unnecessary loss of Jason Huntley is still front and center on this end, regarding the Lions this weekend. Otherwise, I'm glad to see the Lions Practice Squad results.
Very good and fortunate news that David Blough, Kevin Strong, Beau Benzschawel, and Steve Wirtel weren't claimed off waivers and signed P.S. contracts with the Lions.
I'm glad to see Jonathan Williams and Kenny Wiggins sign P.S. contracts with the Lions.
I'm a little surprised the Lions didn't sign TE Matt Sokol to a P.S. contract. My guess is it was the Lions decision, with Sokol currently not having a P.S. opportunity.
My only disagreement regarding the P.S. decisions ( today's P.S. signings ) is the Lions not adding a 2nd QB to the P.S.. The opportunity of a 16 man P.S., combined with the potential ( though, not likely from this point forward ) of losing David Blough to another team, and the COVID-19 situation, is why I wish the Lions signed an additional QB to the P.S..

Detroit Lions protect 4 practice squad players from being poached
..........
If the Lions promote up to two Practice Squad players for this game, at this time, Isaac Nauta and Dee Virgin seem likely the most likely.
One noticeable downside to the weekly 4 player protection list is gets the attention of other NFL teams which P.S. players a given team prioritizes/

Lions sign RB/WR Kerrith Whyte to practice squad, waive WR Victor Boldin
..........
This is the first of a multitude of Practice Squad changes that are very likely ahead for the Lions in the 2020 season.
Though Kerrith Whyte is already on his 3rd NFL team, he's a type of player ( speed, raw ) worth taking a look at on a Practice Squad. Part of the decision to sign Whyte to the P.S. might be his input about the Bears from his time with them in the Spring and summer of 2019.
