Round 5b: RB Jason Huntley (N.M. State ):Pick # 172 ( 2020 )

This new thread relates to the following thread and the threads linked in that thread:
Lions reach the 53 roster limit after cutdown (2020 season )
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/752/lions-reach-roster-cutdown-season
I expressed the following in the combined threads:
10. Jason Huntley. A near shocking cut. I strongly disagree with the decision. Has the best chance of being claimed off waivers of the Lions cuts to get to 53. I think it's at least 55% he's claimed. High priority P.S. signing if he clears waivers. Lions easily could have competition.
I'm not going to question the decision to keep Jason Huntley over another RB who survived the cutdown to 53. However, to keep CB Mike Ford over David Blough or Jason Huntley is perplexing.
I think the chances of Jason Huntley being claimed off waivers are much higher than what Dave Birkett believes. All it takes is one team to take a flier on a player with huge playmaking ability.
The all it takes is one team concern played itself out regarding the Eagles claiming Jason Huntley off waivers from the Lions. I'm not sure if more than one team put in a waiver claim for Huntley. Yet, the Eagles were pretty far down ( 21st ) in the Waiver Claim process.
Bob Quinn made a very foolish and unnecessary mistake in exposing Jason Huntley to waivers. Matt Patricia deserves some of the blame. But Quinn is mostly responsible for what transpired.

Lions make zero waiver claims, lose RB Jason Huntley to the Eagles
.....
The Eagles were well aware of Jason Huntley from their draft preparation. I'm confident they also paid close attention to reports from the other 31 NFL teams open practices in August. Bob Quinn's hot seat should be that much hotter today than it was prior to the weekend.
