Hendon Hooker needs a lot of practice reps and pre-season game snaps. It's not surprising that he was very inconsistent in the OTA practice that Jeff Risdon mentioned. The Lions need Hooker to at least get to the point that the team can hold the fort for 1 to 4 games, if Jared Goff is out.

I think the Lions are going to sign a QB in the next 48 hours. More likely than not, by sometime tomorrow. A trade for a QB is a possibility. The Lions are likely going to need a QB to take snaps in the upcoming pre-season game in Kansas City.

Hendon Hooker took steps forward in Kansas City.

This is an important week for Hendon Hooker, as barring Jared Goff being out or limited once the pre-season is over, Hooker is going to get much fewer practice reps, and not appear in a game in a situation with the outcome of the game being in doubt. The Lions need Hooker to build on the Chiefs pre-season game, both in practice this week, and against the Steelers in the pre-season finale. Erasing any significant doubts that Hooker should be the Lions # 2 QB to begin the regular season.
