Detroit Lions camp observations: Amon-Ra St. Brown impossible to stop in red zone
..............
As a Pro Athlete, even being in the same sentence in a positive way(s) as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, speaks volumes of what Amon-Ra St. Brown has already accomplished in the NFL with the Lions, and the direction his NFL playing career is going.
The play/ progress of UDRFA CBs Starling Thomas V and Steven Gilmore more likely than not is why the Lions haven't added a veteran outside CB to add to the team's mix. Having said that, things could change quickly as days and weeks move along.
Special Teams will be critical for Antoine Green's chance to be on the Lions opening day roster.

Detroit Lions observations: Rookie tight Sam LaPorta earning his keep; pads come on Friday
...............
Sam Laporta should get plenty of snaps this season on Offense. How Laporta performs as a blocker will go a long way in determining how often he will be used as a 'Y' TE.
Nate Sudfeld seems like a good teammate. But the Lions need a better # 2 QB option for this season.
Jack Campbell's playing instincts against the pass have been on display in multiple early training camp practices for the Lions.

5 new developments to know from the first days of Lions camp
..............
With 'Big V' coming off a season ending back injury and the current back injury that sidelined him for part of this week, assessing Graham Glasgow is important. If the Lions brass isn't satisfied with the performance level of Glasgow in practice and the pre-season, the Lions might need to sign a veteran Guard and/ or a Center.
The Lions edge situation looks better than it has in a long time. The Lions off the ball LB situation is also trending that way.

Lions camp notebook for Friday: The pads are now on
...........
Josh Paschal will get plenty of DE and DT snaps this season if he remains on his current course. Very encouraging!
Julian Okwara could easily be on the roster bubble. Being that he's a very flexible athlete, I'm wondering if he's dealing with another injury?
The LBs off the ball LB situation continues to look promising.
The same regarding Brian Branch.
The same can't be said regarding the Lions Backup QB situation.
Trinity Benson needs to build on this practice and remain relatively healthy.

Lions camp notebook: The fans arrive and see a defensive display
.......
Brodric Martin made his presence felt on at least two plays in Saturday's practice.
Julian Okwara is in a contract year. Unless Okwara is dealing with a significant injury, he's not going to be on the Lions post cutdown to 53 man roster if he continues to have practices like these two most recent practices.
John Parker Romo doesn't have much margin of error to win the Lions Kicking Job for the start of the regular season. JPR is going to need a strong pre-season to even have a realistic chance of winning the Lions Kicking job. Riley Patterson has a proven track record, JPR doesn't.

Lions training camp notebook for Sunday: Walking through the reserves
..............
Dylan Drummond has an uphill battle to survive the cutdown to 53 and be on the Lions opening day roster. However, Drummond is making a strong case to at least be a primary Lions Practice Squad option, if he clears waivers.
Logan Stenberg's days with the Lions will likely be ending sometime in August.

Lions camp notebook: July ends with a defensive bang
...........
Retaliation usually leads to an Unsportsmanship Penalty in games. This is a point that needs to be hammered home repeatedly to all Lions players, especially players in their 1st or 2nd NFL season.
The overall ball concentration by Lions skill players wasn't good in this practice.

Detroit Lions observations: Bringing Ford Field’s controlled scrimmage to Allen Park
......
The concentration mistakes by Jahmyr Gibbs in training camp, is likely at least in part because of the high volume of information to absorb. This, coupled with the need for repetitions in practice for rookies (that much more, compared to veterans that have been with the Lions prior to 2023).
The versatility Savion Smith brings to the table helps his cause to be on the Lions opening day 53 man and Game Day roster.
Charles Harris seems to be having a strong all around Training Camp on Defense.
Unless Adrian Martinez is much better in the pre-season than he has been in practice, the Lions have nothing to be concerned about exposing him to waivers in order to sign him to the Practice Squad. The same regarding Martinez being signed off the Lions P.S.
Dylan Drummond is the Lions 2023 UDRFA on Offense who appears to be standing above the rest of the Lions 2023 Offensive UDRFAs.
The pre-season games will likely be critical for the Lions Kickers in the competition for a roster spot.
