This is welcome news.

The Lions have the opportunity to practice against an NFL Playoff team from the previous season, for the 2nd straight week.

The Jaguars have an excellent young QB in Trevor Lawrence, a good overall roster, and are a well coached team, led by HC Doug Pederson. The latter was the Eagles HC in the 2017 season, when they beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl in Minneapolis.

WR-RS Jamal Agnew will be returning to the Lions Allen Party Practice Facility, likely for the first time since a day or two after the 2020 season ended.

The Lions depth on the Edge/ DE and at DT is going to lead to at least one and probably 2 of the Lions 13 players at these combined positions, that belong on an NFL 53 man roster, to be traded or released.

Kayode Awosika, who I thought was average to slightly above average against the Giants in the pre-season opener, probably would make the Lions 53 man initial roster, if the decisions were before today's joint practice against the Jaguars. At this time, I don't know if his stock went up or down today.

Colby Sorsdal looked a long way from being ready to play RG in a regular season game, if called upon. I don't think the Lions will expose him to waivers though. It's way too risky. Next year at this time, I realistically hope that Sorsdal will be at the point that he's capable of seriously competing for a starting Guard job.

This could easily be the last time Jameson Williams is cleared for practice until during the time of his suspension he's allowed to practice with the Lions.

Kalif Raymond might be too valuable as a WR to use him as a full time Punt Returner.

Dylan Drummond belongs on the Lions 53 man roster. The Lions need his WR skills and can't afford to risk placing him on waivers when the Lions cutdown to 53.

Denzel Mims needs to get healthy enough to practice, in order to demonstrate why he belongs on the Lions initial 53 man roster and opening day 53 man roster.

Jack Campbell is an impressive athlete, in addition to a smart physical player. Travis Etienne is a highly athletic RB. Campbell is earning the opportunity to be a starter.

Marvin Jones' value extends far greater than what he can provide on the field at this stage of his NFL playing career.

David Montgomery's QB background could factor into the Lions deciding not to keep a 3rd QB on the 53 man roster for at least the early part of the regular season.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson is having a huge positive impact on the Lions, both in practice reps and an overall intangible standpoint.

WR Trinity Benson has a great opportunity to win a spot on the Lions opening day 53 man roster. The same with RB Devine Ozigbo.

The risk of using Jahmyr Gibbs as a Kickoff Returner, when a game or the season isn't on the line, is greater than the reward by a sizable margin.
