What having a top offensive line could look like for the Lions
.....
Three concerns come to mind regarding the Lions Offensive Line:
1. Even if Big V is relatively healthy, is he at least an average NFL RG?
2. Penei Sewell is a rookie. Growing pains are inevitable.
3. The Lions interior O-Line depth at this time is highly questionable at best.

Detroit Lions training camp preview: Could Penei Sewell’s arrival boost offensive line to NFL’s elite?
........
Lions Offensive Line Coach Hank Fraley is in a small minority of Lions Assistant Coaches from Matt Patricia's final season as Lions HC to be retained by the team's new HC Dan Campbell. Because Logan Stenberg didn't see the field in a game last season, he probably must improve substantially to gain the confidence of Fraley.
When the dust settles, I believe the Lions will have 9 Offensive Lineman on the opening day roster. However, both interior O-Line backups might not be currently on the roster.

Detroit Lions OT Taylor Decker likely out vs. Bears; Penei Sewell decision will wait
………….
This thread relates to the following thread:
Ravens 19, Lions 17: Game # 3 ( 2021 ).J.Tucker 66 Yd GW FG
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/1199/ravens-lions-game-2021-tucker
The opportunity for the Lions to continue to evaluate Penei Sewell at LT while Taylor Decker remains out for at least now reduces the urgency for Decker return. I'm far from certain the Lions brass wants Sewell to return to RT. Matt Nelson wasn't stellar yesterday in the loss to the Ravens but he performed better than in the first two games.
The 2022 Offensive Tackle Draft Crop doesn't look at this time that it will be a strong one. If this is the assessment of most NFL College Scouting Departments, Taylor Decker's trade value should increase.

Matt Nelson's block in line is not elite but I've been pleasantly surprised by his quickness / mobility on pulling plays.

Good observation!
I'm glad you mentioned this, as it didn't occur to me until after seeing your message and reflecting on some of Matt Nelson's plays on the move.
With the Lions depending greatly on screen plays and having a versatile running game, Nelson has value because of his effectiveness level on the move.
