"1. The next two seasons, the Lions have the Rams 1st Round Draft Picks." ... a very good reason indeed More than 70% voted for : "Yes, I hope he wins a Super Bowl"

If Matthew Stafford went to most AFC teams, I probably would have voted, 'Yes, I hope he wins a Super Bowl'. But not during a season the Lions have that team's 1st Round Pick.

Kyle Shanahan recalls Rams ruining his night in Cabo by trading for Matthew Stafford
......
The chances of the Lions receiving an offer for Matthew Stafford, that appealed more to Brad Holmes than the LA Rams offer that sealed the trade, were slim ( when factoring in the Lions weren't going to trade Stafford to a team he didn't want to land with. ). Jared Goff being part of the trade gave the Rams a huge advantage in landing Stafford.

49ers’ Jimmie Ward: Matt Stafford is the same QB who was in Detroit and didn’t make the playoffs
........
The Lions did go to the playoffs 2 times in the 7 seasons Matthew Stafford was on the roster with Calvin Johnson. In 2010, Stafford was limited to 3 games because of injury. The 2009 season was a season the Lions came off of an 0-16 season. Stafford was limited to 10 games because of injury. Hence, for practical purposes, Stafford went to the playoffs 2 times in 5 seasons with Calvin Johnson. The Lions also made the playoffs in the season following Megatron's retirement.
I hope Jimmie Ward is correct from the standpoint that there's validity that Jared Goff's history of winning speaks for itself. Which would in essence then carry over to Detroit.

Matthew Stafford hits thumb on helmet during practice
....
Unfortunately, Matthew Stafford has had this type of injury in games on a number of occasion. The exact nature of the injury, including the degree of the injury, will help determine how the LA Rams will proceed with him.

Let's hope it will not affect his preparation, I can't wait to see if a healthy Stafford can live up to the expectations with the Rams.

My guess is that Sean McVay is going to take a cautious approach. Especially, since Matthew Stafford is coming off thumb surgery and that the regular season is well over a month away.

Matthew Stafford, now among favorites for NFL MVP, wins second weekly honor with Rams
……… This thread relates to the following thread:
Ravens 19, Lions 17: Game # 3 ( 2021 ).J.Tucker 66 Yd GW FG
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/1199/ravens-lions-game-2021-tucker
Great job by Matthew Stafford.
The LA Rams Offense got off to a slow start on their first 2 drives. After that, Stafford received very good protection and his receivers kept getting open against a Bucs Defense that was playing with a depleted CB unit and were without edge player Jason Pierre-Paul. The Rams Defense certainly aided Stafford as well. To Stafford's credit, he delivered repeatedly in 3rd Down situations and some big time overall throws. Stafford did get away with a bad decision when the Rams led by 14 in the 2nd half, that easily could have resulted in an Int. Return for a TD.

Dan Campbell: Matthew Stafford is “doing a dang good job” for the Rams
………
As important as this game is for Matthew Stafford, it's probably at least 5 fold for Sean McVay. The Lions should expect a highly motivated LA Rams team, that in addition to the personal importance of this game is for McVay and Stafford, the Rams are a game behind the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West. The Cardinals already beat the Rams in Inglewood, CA. The Rams can't afford a loss to a Lions team that it's vastly better than in the standings and on paper.
