Lions coach Dan Campbell on his job: 'I don't take it lightly'
...
Compared to other Lions HCs for a very long time, Dan Campbell having the experience playing for the Lions helps prepare him for the job as the team's HC ( from a fan base and media awareness standpoint ). Being that Campbell is authentic, I think he has a better chance of connecting to the Lions players, fans, and media than Matt Patricia did.

Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell are creating an atmosphere that players and fans will want to be part of. Even though the Lions probably won't be a serious contender for a playoff spot this season, it doesn't diminish the importance of building a culture that substantially increases the chances of success in the coming seasons.

Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell closely watching the waiver wire

With the Lions new regime heavy emphasis in 2021 on signing players to 1 year contracts, that by itself should get the attention of those players and others on the roster. Not to mention that only Taylor Decker remains on the Lions from the 2016 season team roster. Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell have already demonstrated that they will make whole scale roster changes.

Dan Campbell on low expectations for Lions: ‘The focus has to be on doing your freaking job’
.....
Being focused at the task at hand is something that Dan Campbell and his staff should reinforce to the Lions players often.. With leaders on the Lions roster doing the same. The Lions will probably be dealing with adversity more often than not this season. That would be challenging for the 2nd youngest team in the NFL ( the Jets are the youngest ) following the cutdown to 53 players. When the Lions do have success, it also will be challenging for such a young team to stay focused at the task at hand.
