Report: Detroit Lions to sign veteran WR Tim Patrick to practice squad
.............
This new thread relates to the following threads and the thread links in those discussions:
Lions down to 52 players after cutdown to 53 ( 2024 season)

Lions projected 53 man roster ( 2024 season )

Tim Patrick would be an excellent addition for the Lions, when factoring what appears to be a very low salary cap cost. Especially, when factoring in his abilities. Reports on Patrick this summer, after two seasons in which he suffered major injuries, have been favorable.
It probably will take at least a week for Patrick to become familiar enough with the Lions system to be able to contribute in games at a level that would help the Lions. Assuming the Lions do sign Patrick to the PS, I'm cautiously optimistic that he will be ready to make a winning level contribution games for the Lions, beginning with Game # 2 with the Bucs.
Even with Patrick likely joining the Lions, I think there's a very realistic chance the Lions will also add another WR with at least above average height.

Predicting the Detroit Lions initial practice squad
..........
I'm anticipating that Kyle Peko will be re-signed to the 53 man roster, with John Cominsky placed on IR.
Steven Gilmore, Abraham Beauplan. and Zonovan Knight are three players that I hope land on the Lions PS, that aren't on Jeff Risdon's projection list.

Detroit Lions initial 2024 practice squad tracker
.............
Regarding Lions players released in the cutdown to 53 (52 technically) and subject to waivers, I'm especially glad that the Lions signed Mitchell Agude and Isaac Ukwu to the Practice Squad. Thankfully, both cleared waivers (as did all of the Lions players the team released in the cutdown, that were subject to waivers). Ukwu is the player I thought had the greatest chance of being claimed by another team.
I'm also glad that the Lions signed Kingsley Eguakun and Jake Fromm to the Practice Squad after they cleared waivers.
Jermar Jefferson and Shane Zylstra are players that I'm glad are back after clearing waivers. But regarding RB, Zonovan Knight was my first choice. Zylstra could end up helping the Lions as a receiver but his blocking substantially limits his value.
James Mitchell is the player who cleared waivers I'm most surprised is back. I thought both parties would want to go in a different direction. Hopefully, being on the Lions P.S. will help Mitchell become more consistent across the board.

The Lions earn top NFL practice squad honors
...........
While it's good to see that the Lions are being acknowledged for putting together the best Practice Squad in the NFL, the true test of the Practice Squad will be when players from the P.S. are called upon in games.
