Caleb Williams will be drafted by Chicago with Pick # 1, barring something totally unforeseen. I'm anticipating Jayden Daniels to be drafted by Washington with Pick # 2. If Washington passes on Daniels, I don't expect them to draft down beyond Pick # 3.
The most likely trade partner for Minnesota is New England, which has Pick # 3. Arizona (Pick # 4 ) and the LA Chargers are the other teams the Vikings could very realistically trade up with to land a QB.
Drake Maye and JJ McCarthy are the two QBs the Vikings very likely would trade up for, if as expected on this end, Williams and Daniels will be selected in the top 2. Though I respect Rick Spielman's opinion, it seems like it's close to 50-50 whether the Vikings prefer McCarthy, compared to Maye.
The NY Giants, with Pick # 6, are probably the Vikings prime competition to trade up to draft a QB in the top 5. Denver (Pick # 12), Las Vegas (Pick # 13), and Seattle (Pick # 16), are the other teams that the Vikings have to be concerned about trading up to the top 5 to draft a QB. If the Vikings rank Maye and McCarthy close to the same on their draft board, that will give the Vikings more flexibility, regarding trade up offers.
