I expressed the following in the 'Lions Free Agency Preview and Results: ( 2023 )' thread:
C.J. Moore is a valuable Special Teams player, with Defensive versatility. I think both the Lions and Moore will agree to a new contract. Moore let his agent know during last season that he clearly wanted to come back to the Lions. It was good to see Moore return in late October (Moore was signed off the Texans Practice Squad), after he was let go with an injury settlement as the Lions got down to 53 players.
This is a better contract than I thought C.J. Moore would get on the open market. I'm comfortable though that the Lions gave Moore this contract.
In addition to being one of the Lions best Special Teams players, Moore is an underrated Defensive player. Moore's versatility and play on Defense, coupled by the Lions moving on from DeShon Elliott, probably will result in Moore having a higher % of snaps on Defense in the 2023 season.
