Brian Branch solidified his Lions draft stock at the NFL Scouting Combine

Lions have Picks # 6 and # 18 in the 2023 NFL Draft

If the Lions want Brian Branch as one of the top realistic options with Pick # 18, the Combine drills results likely increased the chances of Branch being available with Pick # 18.
Knowing Brad Holmes' history with the St. Louis and LA Rams (in an Assistant/ support role) and Lions in waiting until at least Round 3 to draft a Safety (usually with good to great results), chances are the Lions won't be drafting a Safety in Round 1. This is even factoring in Branch's skills covering Slot Receivers, which is a need for the Lions.

NFL draft CB preview: Detroit Lions still have upgrades to make in defensive backfield
...........
Sydney Brown is less than 5-10" but despite this, I hope the Lions consider him for Round 3 ( Pick # 81 or trade down) under most draft scenarios. Brown has excellent ball skills (6 interceptions his Senior season, 2 returned for TDs), with the versatility to be a Box Safety, Deep Safety, be a backup Slot CB, and be an asset on Special Teams. Brown has the bulk (211 lbs) to be a physical presence and very good leaping ability (40 1/2" vertical jump). He needs to be more consistent wrapping up as a tackler. If the Lions are satisfied with Brown's medical situation (he has a history of concussions), Brown could be amongst the best Lions options with Pick # 81. My guess is Brown will be available with Pick # 81.
Kei’Trel Clark is a speedy (4.42 40 at the Combine) Slot CB prospect with loads of college experience, good ball skills, and great football character. He's worth considering in Round 5, if available, with either pick # 152 or pick # 159 ( or a trade down). My guess is Clark will be gone before pick # 152.

Why the Detroit Lions should draft Christian Gonzalez
...........
Excellent article. This is a reflection of why I am still projecting Christian Gonzalez to be Pick # 6 by the Lions, even though the consensus pick is Devon Witherspoon.
Granted, Gonzalez needs to get physically stronger. Next off-season, with a full off-season in the Lions Strength and Conditioning program, I believe that would enable Gonzalez to continue to ascend as a tackler, and handle physical WRs better.

I don't expect Emmanuel Forbes to last to Pick # 48, in Round 2.
Clark Phillips III and Julius Brents will likely be drafted in Round 2, with the entire Round the range they could land. One of them more likely than not will be available with Pick # 48. If the Lions don't draft a CB earlier, either is a very realistic possibility with Pick # 48 or Pick # 55. DJ Turner would also be in the mix, if available with one or both of the Lions 2nd Round Picks. I think Turner is the most likely of these 3 CBs to be gone by the time the Lions are scheduled to be on the Clock with Pick # 48.
More likely than not, Darius Rush won't be available with Pick # 81, in Round 3. Rush has a realistic chance of being drafted in the latter part of Round 2. While Rush likely won't be drafted by the Lions as early as Pick # 55, if the Lions trade down to a lower spot in Round 2 or higher in Round 3, Rush could realistically be in play for the Lions if CB hasn't been addressed yet by the team.

Seahawks GM John Schneider declares Seattle was all-in on drafting Devon Witherspoon at No. 5
...............
The Seahawks have a long history under GM John Schneider and HC Pete Carroll of drafting long physical CBs. Devon Witherspoon is the latest. I didn't think they were going to take Witherspoon with Pick # 5. But I thought prior to them drafting Witherspoon that the most likely outcome for the Seahawks with Pick # 20, if they kept the pick, was selecting Maryland CB Deonte Banks. As it turned out, the Giants drafted Banks with Pick # 24, after they traded up from Pick # 25, with the Jaguars.
