Lions held a pre-draft visit with Illinois DB Jartavius 'Quan' Martin
Quan Martin, Illinois DB, reportedly drawing interest from high number of teams ahead of NFL Draft
.........
At the Combine, Jartavius 'Quan' Martin measured at 5'11", weighing 194 pounds. Martin ran a 4.46 40, with an off the charts 44" Vertical Jump and an excellent 10 Yard Split (1.44).
The versatility that Martin proves in the Secondary, including as a Deep Safety, a Slot CB, with experience as an outside CB in his first few seasons with Illinois, and on Special Teams, adds to his value substantially. If the Lions draft Martin, he probably will be used mostly on Special Teams as a rookie, barring the injury factor.
While Martin has had some problems finishing making plays on the ball, to his credit, he broke up 14 passes as a Senior, in addition to 3 interceptions.
Martin is hard worker, with great football character. This is something that Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell, and co. highly value.
The only downside about Martin as a prospect that jumps out is he's on the smaller side for a Safety.
Because of versatility, intangibles, ability, and playmaking history, under most draft scenarios, I would be comfortable with the Lions drafting Martin with Pick # 81 in Round 3. Martin will probably be drafted in Round 3 or Round 4.
