This contract is in the range that Tracy Walker was projected ( consensus) to get from the Lions or another NFL team.

Based of the on the Quandre Diggs on the surface contract numbers with the Seahawks, I believe the Tracy Walker contract makes more sense for the Lions.

The retention of Walker fills one of the needs the Lions have at Safety. Another starting caliber Safety is needed. Most likely, Marcus Williams will sign elsewhere, with the Lions addressing Safety with either the pick # 32, # 34, or # 66 Draft resource. With a lower cost veteran addition at Safety also likely added sometime this off-season.

Detroit Lions re-sign S Tracy Walker, content keeping defense together for now

A couple of significant parts of the value of the Lions re-signing Tracy Walker are the Lions keep a home grown player and the Lions Secondary will have much needed continuity at one of the Starting Safety positions. The latter is huge with so much youth at CB.
