Free agent S Quandre Diggs recovering well from ankle injury, fits Lions needs well ...........
The Lions probably will make a major financial investment for a veteran, at one of the Safety positions. With the other being either an early or mid round Draft pick or another veteran at a much lower price than what it will take to sign Quandre Diggs as an UFA or re-sign Tracy Walker. Being that Walker is 2 years younger than Diggs and has continuity with the Lions coaching staff and returning Defensive players, I would rather the Lions re-sign Walker. Especially, if as I'm anticipating, the price for signing Diggs will be significantly higher.

Detroit Lions free agency preview: Safety Marcus Williams looks like the top name to watch
........
Tyrann Mathieu is one of the top playmaking Safeties in the NFL but will be turning 30 in May. If the cost to sign Mathieu is noticeably lower than signing Marcus Williams, he would be well worth considering.
Darious Williams would make plenty of sense except for possibly two reasons:
1. He's only 5'9". Aaron Glenn seems to put an emphasis on taller CBs, for the outside CB positions. 2. If his asking price is beyond midrange.
Having said this, the Lions could use a veteran player at CB, as the 2021 Lions CB unit was one of the youngest and least experienced in NFL History.

Quandre Diggs agrees to re-sign with Seahawks
........
I'm glad to see Quandre Diggs being rewarded for his hard work. Even in what probably be a rebuild with Russell Wilson being traded to Denver, the Seahawks brass sees the value of Diggs remaining with them.

Potential Lions target Marcus Williams agrees to sign with the Ravens .......
It wouldn't surprise me if Marcus Williams accepted a lesser valued contract with the Ravens, compared to what one or more teams offered him.
Considering the Lions signed Jaguars WR D.J. Chark to a 1 year contract that's more team favorable than I could have imagined and the Lions re-signed Tracy Walker & Charles Harris in the range that was anticipated them getting, there's no regrets on this end that the Lions didn't land Marcus Williams.

Does this mean we value Kyle Hamilton more than we we Kayvon or Aidan at #2? Or even trade down?

Not necessarily.
At this time, there are 3 Safeties whom I believe the Lions could take with pick # 32, pick # 34, or as a result of a trade up or trade down with one of those picks:
Daxton Hill (Michigan) Lewis Cine (Georgia) Jaquan Brisker (Penn St.)
Regarding trading down from pick # 2, the huge obstacle is the 2022 QB draft crop probably doesn't have anyone who a team would trade that high up for. Malik Willis (Liberty) is the only QB who a team might be willing to roll the dice on that high up in the draft. I'm not expecting it to happen.

Lions should have interest in ex-Rams S Terrell Burgess
.......
The Lions are 5th this week in the NFL Waiver Claim order.
If Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell, and co. are of the opinion that Ifeatu Melifonwu probably won't be healthy enough to play for at least another month, it's easy to envision the Lions putting in a waiver claim on Terrell Burgess. With the plan of placing Melifonwu on IR, if the Lions are awarded Burgess.
If Burgess isn't claimed by any team off waivers, the Lions probably will try to sign him to the P.S..
