Detroit Lions to visit Denver Broncos in NFL's new 17th game
.......
I hope the NFL doesn't take away a home game from a team that has 9 road games in the United States in a season. The exception, a team that wants to voluntarily give up a home game to play an annual International game like the Jaguars have done for many years, with a game in London instead.

Lions to officially play Broncos in 2021 as NFL expands regular season to 17 games .......
My guess is in the 2022 season, the NFC North will be matched up against the AFC South for the 17th game. With the 2022 games being played in the NFC stadiums, not counting games that will be played outside the USA.
I think there's a pattern that was put into place. Being that the NFC North teams played against the AFC West in the 2019 season, the 2021 season is two seasons since then, and the NFC North teams will be playing against all 4 AFC East teams in the 2022 season, I'm expecting the extra game to be two seasons apart from when the team played the full division. The NFC North teams played against each of four AFC South teams in the 2020 season. Hence, why I think the Lions will be facing an AFC South team in the 2022 season.

Falcons will play home game in London
......
It didn't take long for the NFL to put a team ( Falcons ) at a major disadvantage! If the plan goes ahead as scheduled, the Falcons will have 9 road games in the United States and an additional game in London. With only 7 home games. Why couldn't the NFL wait until the 2022 season to take away a Falcons home game???
I don't recall the NFL having any repeat matchups for games in London. If that trend continues, the Lions won't be the Falcons opponent in London this coming season.
