This is very likely a restructure that both parties are satisfied with, not a restructure that involves lowering the value of the contract that would keep the player on the roster at least for several months ( instead of him being a Salary Cap casualty in the present.).
In the coming days when more specifics become available, it will be easier to assess the decision by the Lions to restructure Janie Collins' contract. I'm nit surprised by the Lions decision, based on the need to free up salary cap space in 2021 in order for the Lions to at least make significant progress in the first year of the Brad Holmes-Dan Campbell regime. Not to mention, the Lions having more flexibility with how to proceed with Kenny Golladay.
