Bob Quinn's roster decision to release Oday Aboushi was much better logistically and overall than with Jason Huntley. Bob Quinn knew that Aboushi wouldn't be exposed to waivers. It's doubtful another team would have made an offer to sign Aboushi at this time that was significantly better than what the Lions likely offered him. Even if the unexpected happened, with another team signing Aboushi, at most it would have been a minor setback for the Lions.
By releasing Aboushi yesterday, it enabled Quinn to keep a player subject to waivers ( or a vested veteran who realistically would have received a better offer elsewhere), on the Lions roster.
