The combination of the Joe Dahl botched snap play and the Jeffrey Simmons hit on the next play was all Darrell Bevell needed to see to get Matthew Stafford out of the game when the Lions got the ball back ( 21 points down instead of 14 ).

A benefit of Matthew Stafford playing in the final 2 games ( if he's healthy enough to play effectively and without significant additional risk of his current injuries ) is it's something his teammates that are back with the Lions will remember. Stafford is setting a standard for other Lions players to follow, even when he's no longer with the Lions.

From a coaching standpoint, the Lions are probably much better off on Offense for the Bucs game than on Defense. At this time, all of the Lions position coaches on Offense are available for the game. I no longer support the decision for Matthew Stafford to play in the remainder of the season, even if he's not at significant risk in playing. Once the Lions released Jayron Kearse, with the objective of playing some younger players more, young players should be given opportunities on all position units.
