Of all of the agreements with the 5 UFA from other teams the Lions have made so far, I think the one with DT Danny Shelton the best. The price seems very favorable for the Lions. Danny Shelton doesn't turn 27 until during the summer. Hence, the wear and tear factor is a less of a concern compared to older DTs with high mileage. Plus, Shelton has the additional benefits of playing with the Patriots under Bill Belichick, he's a very good system fit, and was a teammate with Jamie Collins with the Browns.

I'm surprised that Danny Shelton's pass rush PFF ranking in the 2019 season was much better than his 2019 run Defense ranking. Normally, Shelton is much more effective against the run, in comparison to being a pass rusher.

It's a great value contract for the Lions, for the 2020 season. A $2.75 million cap hit is a bargain for Danny Shelton. Whether he will be on the Lions in 2021 with a $ 4 million base salary, will depend greatly on how he performs in 2020.
