Matthew Stafford won't play vs. Bears because of fractured bones in back
…………..
For an injury to keep Matthew Stafford out of a game, it can be assumed that it's an injury that would keep practically any QB out of a game.
The 136 game consecutive game playing streak is probably tbe best accomplishment of Matthew Stafford's outstanding NFL playing career through this point in time.

Matthew Stafford is week-to-week with broken bones in his back
…………..
It seems like there's more than a 50-50 chance that Matthew Stafford will be kept out the remainder of the season. If the Lions lose to the Bears today and then at home to the NFC East leading Cowboys next week, the Lions would be 3-6-1. Even a 6 game winning streak to close out the regular season probably then wouldn't be enough for the Lions to reach the playoffs.

Source: Lions QB Matthew Stafford out with broken bones in back
…………….
What doesn't add up is the injury that Matthew Stafford was dealing with prior to the Chiefs game was a hip injury. The Lions can't provide false information on the NFL Injury Report without risking a major penalty ( loss of one or more draft picks very possible, in addition to a heavy fine. ).

……………
Matthew Stafford is as tough as nails. A negative ramification of that is the back injury he suffered on this play that will keep him out at least for today's game in Chicago.

This is good news under the circumstance of the injury.

Don’t expect to see Matthew Stafford shut down anytime soon
……………..
The Lions weren't mathematically eliminated from the playoffs in the 2018 until the 1 point loss at Buffalo in week # 15 ( Game # 14 ). Based on the strength of the NFC this season and the direction the Lions have been going in, the Lions might be eliminated from the playoffs this month.

I agree; there is NO reason for Matthew Stafford to play again this season.
