Lions training camp preview: Jameson Williams breakout season incoming?
...........
I believe there's a pretty good chance the Lions will begin the regular season with either 6 WRs or 4 TEs on the 53 man roster. Special Teams, overall versatility, and potential all are factors that will determine how the Lions proceed at WR and TE, beyond the expected starters.

Potential worries about the 2024 Detroit Lions: WRs not named Amon-Ra St. Brown
..........
As training camp and the pre-season went along, it became evident that there weren't even 5 WRs on the Lions 90 man roster that warranted 53 man roster spots.
In addition, I expected the Lions only to go with 3 TEs as it got closer and closer to the cutdown to 53, as the Lions had better roster options at other positions, vs. going with a 4th TE.
Once the Lions coaches are confident that the hamstring injury Jahmyr Gibbs suffered in training camp is no longer a factor, I can envision Gibbs lining up as a receiver.
Also, rookie RB Sione Vaki might see action as a Slot Receiver during the season.
Of the 3 taller/ bigger WRs on the Lions Practice Squad, Tim Patrick is the one I have the most hope for this season. The Lions definitely can use the skill set of a taller/ bigger WR.
