This is a well-deserved honor for Penei Sewell.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid, who led the Chiefs to back to back Super Bowl Championships, threw out the first pitch of the Kansas City Royals opener vs. the Minnesota Twins last Thursday. Hopefully, for the Tigers, the results of their game vs. the Oakland A's (arguably the worst team in all of North American Pro Sports) will be better than the results for the Royals. The Tigers are off to a great start, though the 3 wins over the White Sox and extra innings win over the Mets were against teams that probably will finish with losing records this season. Today's Tigers-Mets game at Citi Field in the NYC Borough of Queens was also rained out. The Tigers and Mets are now scheduled to play a Doubleheader at Citi Field tomorrow, beginning at 12:10PM ET.

It's realistically possible for the Lions and Penei Sewell to come to a contract extension agreement in 2024. However, because the Lions have Sewell's NFL rights in 2025 (once the 5th Year option is exercised in the next few weeks), and that Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Alim McNeill are entering the final season of their contract with the Lions, it's more likely than not that the Lions and Sewell won't come to a contract extension agreement until next off-season. Sewell likely will end up with a record setting contract from the Lions, for an NFL Offensive Lineman.
