Every NFL team's non-QB MVP heading into 2024 season
Detroit Lions: DE Aidan Hutchinson
Hutchinson enters his third season on the precipice of being one of the NFL’s most impactful pass rushers. If the Lions defense is to make a sizable jump forward, Hutchinson has to produce like he’s an elite performer. Detroit doesn’t have anyone else who impacts the opposing offense or offers the diverse skills at EDGE that Hutchinson brings. Power, speed, technique, effort–Hutchinson offers the complete package. A case can also be made that Taylor Decker, Penei Sewell, Amon-Ra St. Brown, or Sam LaPorta is the Lions most valuable non QB player. Aidan Hutchinson is clearly the Lions most valuable player on the Lions Defense, entering training camp.

Sports Illustrated's Super Bowl pick should make Detroit fans very happy
...........
I can't recall what predictions were made for the Lions for the 1971 season. But since then, it's been rare that anyone in the national sports media has predicted the Lions to even reach the Super Bowl. The Lions have to remain focused at the day by day tasks at hand, not looking ahead.

These predictions reflect the thought process that the Packers are a huge obstacle for the Lions quest to win the NFC North, NFC Championship, and the Super Bowl. With the Chiefs being a huge obstacle for the Lions if both teams reach the Super Bowl this season.

Here are the NFL pundits picking the Lions for the Super Bowl

Regarding the predictions from the Athletic, 16 out of the 42 pundits selected the Lions to advance to the Super Bowl, with 2 winning the Super Bowl. Regarding Super Bowl Matchup, 11 selected Lions vs. Chiefs, 2 selected Lions vs. Bengals, with 1 selecting Lions vs. Ravens, and 1 selecting Lions vs. Bills. Only 41 out of the 42 pundits are listed regarding Super Bowl matchups.
Of the 32 pundits that selected NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Aidan Hutchinson received 3 votes. Micah Parsons 15, Myles Garrett 10, and T.J. Watt 6, are the top 3 in prediction vote total. Maxx Crosby 3, was tied with Hutch for 4th most votes.

Where the Lions rank in all PFF team grading metrics entering Week 6
...........
The 49ers were # 1 in Overall PFF grades after Week # 5, yet their record was 2-3. Their road win in Seattle last night isn't included in these rankings.
The Lions are # 6 in Pass Blocking and # 8 in Receiving but only # 25 in Passing Offense. This is probably mostly because of the Lions Red Zone struggles in the first 2 games, though Jared Goff's Passing Grade probably is at least significantly lower than # 8 overall.
Other than the Lions Passing Offense grade, the Lions are no lower than # 11 (Pass Coverage) in any category. A very good start to the season, with the Lions having the potential to being better in most categories.
