Very good Lions news!
In the 'Lions Free Agency Preview and Results: ( 2024 )' thread, I expressed the following:
Jonah Jackson, Graham Glasgow, and Jalen-Reeves Maybin are the 3 Lions UFAs that I consider the highest priority to try to get re-signed.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin earned a Pro Bowl spot with his very high caliber Special Teams play.
When given the opportunity as a LB during the 2nd Half of the season and into the playoffs, JRM provided the Lions with impactful all around play and overall seemed to grade out well as a LB.
The contract the Lions are giving JRM indicates to me that the plan is for JRM to play extensively as a LB in expected passing situations. This, in addition to JRM being a core Special Teams player.

Jalen Reeves-Maybin elected as the new NFLPA President
..........
Congrats to JRM!
Thankfully, the NFL is a long way from negotiations on the next Collective Bargaining Agreement. This should limit the potential distraction for JRM during the time of his new contract with the Lions.
