From my point of view, the Lions letting go Dylan Drummond is the greatest surprise of the Lions roster decisions through this point in time, in the last 3 days. It's not a huge surprise though, as I thought Drummond had a 55 % chance of surviving the cutdown to 53.
The decision likely came down to the Lions brass being of the opinion that Drummond doesn't offer enough Special Team abilities at this point in time, compared to other options on the Lions roster. Including, at other positions, in addition to WR. With the assessment that there's a pretty good chance Drummond won't be claimed off waivers. My guess is the chances of Drummond being claimed off waivers is at or around 37 %. If Drummond clears waivers, I definitely believe he will be a Practice Squad priority for the Lions.
