Siaki Ika has the ability to be a long term solution for the Lions or whatever team drafts him. The Lions need another athletic big body in the interior of the Defensive Line. Even if Ika isn't used often in expected passing situations, he has the potential to help get the Lions into expected passing situations more frequently.
My concerns with the Lions drafting Ika (a 2nd Round Pick probably will be necessary to do so) are he was suspended for a game with Baylor in 2021, his weight went up from 335 at the Combine to 347 at the Baylor Pro Day, his arm length is on the shorter side (32 5/8"), he doesn't consistently maintain his leverage despite having the ability to do so, and he missed two many tackles in 2022.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Lions use Pick # 49 or Pick # 55 on Ika in Round 2, if he's still available. My hunch though is that Ika won't satisfy the Lions brass enough from a football character standpoint for the Lions to draft him with either Pick. If the Lions trade down to a spot somewhat lower in Round 2 and Ika remains available, there's a better chance the Lions would draft him. When the dust settles, I don't think Ika will be a Lions draft selection.
