Even with the connection that Chauncey Gardner-Johnson has with Aaron Glenn and Dan Campbell from their Saints days and that CGJ was still on the open market as an UFA, which wasn't expected, I didn't envision the Lions being a serious player for his services. Not after the Lions invested heavily at CB in Free Agency and gave C.J. Moore a higher valued contract than was expected. Great decision by Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell in signing CGJ, even though it could end up being the difference in the Lions not retaining UFA WR DJ Chark, if he signs elsewhere.
CGJ is a versatile high quality DB, who's an asset at both Safety positions and as a Slot CB. CGJ has excellent ball skills.
I'm amazed at the vast improvement on paper of the Lions Secondary in less than a week.
