If the Lions don't sign a FA RB from another team, before the draft, that has the ability to be the team's # 2 rushing option, I think the Lions will draft a RB. Probably, somewhere in the middle rounds. The type of versatile RB that Malcolm Brown is, which also is similar to what Zach Zenner brings to the table, likely is what the Lions prefer if everything is close to equal.
With C.J. Anderson now in the Lions fold, the Lions have the luxury of not drafting a RB. For the Lions to draft a RB, including intriguing RBs Darrell Henderson and Rodney Anderson, it must be in a spot in which value jumps out in a favorable manner. IMHO, RB is the least Lions need on either side of the ball.
I don't expect the Lions to draft Bryce Love, even if he falls to the Lions second 7th Round Pick. He easily could be available in the 7th Round if the report mentioned in the article is correct.
If a RB prospect has expected Special Teams value, that would make him more football attractive for a team like the Lions that is in very good shape at the position in the days leading up to the draft.
