Providing that the contract number isn't excessive, which I don't think it will turn out to be, I'm very happy with the Lions signing C.J. Anderson. The Lions RB situation at this time has become a major strength!

Three things jump out about the Lions adding C.J. Anderson to the mix:


1. He has rushed for at least a 4.0 avg. per attempt every season of his NFL career.


2. He has played on a Super Bowl winning team and a Super Bowl losing team.


3. Unlike rookie RBs which go through the difficult transition of learning to effectively pick up blitzes on the NFL level, Anderson is well equipped to handle that role.

In terms of the RB position and the Lions situation, this looks like a classic situation in which player fills need. Especially, because of the heavy emphasis the Lions appear to be putting on the running game.

Haven’t seen the contract numbers yet; but I’m pretty excited about this signing. Assuming the contract is a favorable one, there’s little risk here; but the reward could be incredible.
