Lions free agency preview: Bargain hunting for WRs as Amon-Ra St. Brown deal looms
..........
If the Lions are unable to come to a new contract agreement with DJ Chark, how the Lions proceed at WR will probably come down to what type of skill set do the Lions want to add to the current mix. Chark's size/ speed/ blocking combo will be difficult to replace on the veteran open market this year. If the Lions go after a different type of skill set, such as Mecole Hardman provides, Josh Reynolds will probably be used more as a downfield / Red Zone option to try to help compensate for no longer having Chark, if he moves on.

Vikings to release Adam Thielen on Friday
Vikings officially bid farewell to hometown product Adam Thielen
..........
Adam Thielen had a heck of a stay with the Vikings, with many impactful games against the Lions. A major reason why the Lions finally got a win against the Vikings (Dec.2021), after losing 8 straight games to them, is Thielen suffered an injury early in that game that sidelined him the rest of the game.
This summer, Adam Thielen turns 33 years old. In the short term, I think Thielen can help the Lions, because of his route running, hands, his Red Zone instincts/ play, and overall intangibles. If the Lions and DJ Chark go in another direction, Thielen would be a good option, at a mid range price or lower.

Jakobi Meyers agrees to three-year deal with Raiders
...........
I believe that Jakobi Meyers is the first FA WR to agree to terms with another team since the start of the NFL Official Tampering Period began yesterday at 12:00pm ET.
This contract is probably the high end of what DJ Chark will be offered by one or more teams. With Chark likely not getting an offer this high.

Mecole Hardman to sign with Jets
........
There was no indication that the Lions had series interest in signing Mecole Hardman.
The terms of the contract Hardman reportedly agreed to with the Jets is a good risk/ reward contract for the Jets.
If Corey Davis is released by the Jets and DJ Chark signs with the Panthers are another team other than the Lions, Davis is someone I think the Lions would look at closely as Chark's replacement.

Is Reunion with WR Marvin Jones Jr. Worth It for Detroit Lions?
............
This thread relates to the following thread:
Panthers agree to 1 yr contract with WR DJ Chark (UFA-Lions)
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/1730/panthers-agree-contract-chark-lions
I expressed the following in that thread:
DJ Chark isn't going to be easy to replace. Jaguars UFA / former Lions WR Marvin Jones is still available on the open market but he doesn't have the speed to keep an Opposing Defense playing closer to the line of scrimmage more often. Jets WR Corey Davis would be worth the Lions looking at closely, if he's a salary cap casualty in the coming weeks. The draft is an option, as early as a Round 1 selection. The learning curve for a rookie WR is concerning though.
Having said this, Marvin Jones has high caliber ball skills, is a very good route runner, and has great intangibles. If the Lions end up signing Marvin Jones, I think he would be very helpful in the development of Jamison Williams and a WR the Lions end up drafting this season (assuming the Lions draft a WR).

The DeAndre Hopkins drama is now over for Detroit
..........
While DeAndre Hopkins' contract with the Titans has less value than projections of his next contract (following his release by the Cardinals), it's best the Lions aren't the team giving him this contract. As a result, the Lions will have more salary cap space to work out a contract extension with one or more players.
