While a strong case can be made that Steve Wilks was the Panthers best Head Coach option, Frank Reich was a successful HC with the Colts when the QB position wasn't a liability for the team. My guess is the Panthers are going to look for a QB in Round 1 of the 2023, if the opportunity cost is decent (average) or better. If the QB position isn't a liability in the 2023 season, the Panthers will more likely than not win the NFC South Title.

David Tepper is the problem with the Panthers

Ben Johnson turned down the opportunity for a 2nd interview with the Panthers back in January. He decided to remain the Lions Offensive Coordinator. Maybe Ben Johnson knew to stay away from David Tepper as Panthers owner.

With former Lions Assistant Coaches Duece Staley and Todd Wash on the Panthers Coaching Staff, Ben Johnson should have the opportunity to get plenty of input whether he should even interview for the Panthers HC this winter (if as expected, Tepper requests an interview).
