Whether or not Ben Johnson becomes an NFL Head Coach in the coming days or weeks, it's impressive that at least 3 teams requested interviews with Johnson. These interviews are well deserved opportunities for Johnson.

IMHO, of the 5 NFL HC openings, the Carolina Panthers HC job is by far the best one. The Panthers have an owner willing to spend, a long term solution at LT in place, one of the better WRs in the NFL with D.J. Moore, and a very good foundation on Defense.

If everything is close to equal with Sean Payton getting an NFL HC job offer from at least one other team, the Saints will probably accept the trade compensation offer from another team over the Panthers because Carolina is an NFC South opponent.

Jim Caldwell turned 68 years old earlier today. Age is a huge obstacle for Caldwell to get another NFL HC opportunity.

A substantial difference between the Lions situation and the Bucs situation is the Bucs had Bruce Arians as their HC prior to this season. Arians has an excellent track record as a play caller and with his overall results with NFL Offenses. Prior to the 2nd half of the 2021 season, Dan Campbell never called plays. While Johnson has a good supporting coaching cast, including Head Coach Campbell, Johnson is clearly the driving coaching force on the Lions Offense being among the best Offensive Units in the NFL. If the Lions injury situation on Offense is around league average or more favorable, I'm confident that Johnson will be in position to get multiple HC interviews in 2024.
