DeVonta Smith laughs off those who question his size
....
I can envision DeVonta Smith going as high as pick # 6 to the Dolphins. Hence, reuniting Tua with Smith. If Smith isn't drafted by the time pick # 7 is complete, it wouldn't be shocking if Smith falls to somewhere from pick # 12 ( Eagles ) to pick # 20 ( Bears ).

Who’ll be the first receiver taken?
........
Regarding the order these 3 WRs will end up being drafted, I'm confident about one thing: Ja'Marr Chase will either be the 1st or 2nd of the 3 WRs selected.

Is that such a big problem ? Marquise Brown (Ravens - 1st rounder) and Darnell Mooney (Bears - 5th rounder) have a similar frame and have been quite durable throughout the 2020 season if I'm not mistaken ?

Marquise Brown was able to get his weight up to 180 lbs last summer. I'm not sure if Brown was able to maintain that weight or close close, over the course of the season.
I have two concerns regarding Devonta Smith, compared to the two WRs you mentioned. Especially, regarding the decision whether to draft Smith with pick # 7.
1. The Ravens drafted Marquise Brown with pick # 25 in 2019. As you mentioned, Darnell Mooney was a 5th Round pick by the Bears. The value of pick # 7 is substantially greater than a typical pick # 25 resource and off the charts more valuable than a 5th Round draft pick resource. The Lions need to take advantage of the value of the pick # 7 draft resource.
2. Brown and Mooney appear to have more deep speed than Smith. I think opposing Defenses will more often respect their speed than they will with Smith. If this happens, Smith probably won't be effective enough on his combined short and intermediate routes to justify pick # 7. Even if Smith stays relatively healthy, I have concerns that he will be able to effectively beat press coverage and other jams enough to provide enough value to warrant pick # 7.

The Nine: Alabama’s DeVonta Smith could make new Lions QB Jared Goff’s life much easier
.....
If the Lions draft decision with pick # 7 or in a trade down came down to Devonta Smith vs. Micah Parsons, I prefer Smith to be the selection. Without knowing all 9 players that will be listed in this series of articles, Parsons ( who clearly will be one of the players ) will be at or very near the bottom of my Lions preferences on the list.

Report: Lions tried to trade up to land LSU WR Ja'Marr Chase
.........
Taking Trevor Lawrence out of the equation, the only remaining player in the Draft that I might be comfortable with the Lions trading up for from pick # 7 is Ja'Marr Chase. However, giving up more than the equivalent of a late 2nd Round pick in the 2021 Draft, with pick # 7, would be too much to give up.

NFL draft preview: Detroit Lions have options to restock offense in deep WR class
.......
I'm not counting on Nico Collins or D'Wayne Eskridge lasting to the Lions first 3rd Round Pick ( # 74 ). If Eskridge lasts to that point of the draft, he would be a tempting option. He's a fast and quick slot WR prospect, who also could be a big play Return option on Special Teams. Collins was probably a better when Matthew Stafford was the Lions QB. He's a big target who is much better in contested ball situations than getting separation.

The Nine: Alabama WR Jaylen Waddle would be the cream of the crop in Detroit’s speedy receiver room
.........
Of the 'Big 3' WRs in this draft, my order of preference for the Lions is 1. Ja'Marr Chase, 2. Jaylen Waddle, 3. DaVonta Smith. Waddle has more upside potential than Smith. Though I would hope the Lions only use Waddle on Special Teams Returns when a game or season is on the line, his differential abilities would give the Lions plenty of options. Including, on gadget plays on Offense.
It's attention getting that Jaylen Waddle mentioned Cooper Kupp, when discussing NFL comparisons. Jared Goff was Kupp's QB with the LA Rams. There was a noticeable comfort level between them in Rams games. Probably, more than any of Goff's receivers. Waddle has speed and explosiveness than Kupp. If the Lions brass wants to give Goff a much greater chance of success, the addition of Waddle would go along way in accomplishing this. Providing, the key question mark with Waddle. Even more than his size:
Whether Waddle can remain relatively healthy much more often than not?
One thing in particular that adds to the value of the top 3 WRs in this draft crop is all take great pride in blocking. Overall effort and desire is a huge plus. Each has great football character.

2021 NFL draft preview: Lions in position to bolster needy receiver room through ultra-deep class
.....
If one or more teams are satisfied regarding off the field concerns about Kadarius Toney, he likely will be drafted in Round 1. If Toney drops to pick # 41 in Round 2, it probably will be mainly for non football ability reasons..
Terrace Marshall Jr. has 1st Round talent but his blocking efforts and focus when he's not expecting to get the ball are concerning to the point that I believe the Lions will pass on him if he's available at # 41.
The WR who wasn't mentioned in this article and the WR Preview article that Dave Burkett wrote, who I'm projecting the Lions to take at # 41 in my Mock Draft, is Dyami Brown ( North Carolina ). Though both of the Moore's would be tempting if available in that spot, Brown is close to 6-1" and also has good speed and great separation skills. Brown was used primarily as an outside WR on the Left Side of formations. I do believe he has the skill set to become a versatile WR. He's a physical blocker for someone 185 pounds. However, he needs to be more physical when the ball is coming to him, as well as catching the ball more consistently.

4 bold predictions for the Lions in the 2021 NFL draft weekend
.......
It's surprising that Dyami Brown is being overlooked to at least a large extent. Jeff Risdon easily could be proven correct if the Lions end up passing on Dyami Brown with pick # 41 ( if the Lions don't take a WR earlier in the draft. ).
I agree that the Lions won't end up drafting a QB.
The reason I hope the Lions sign an UDRFA QB or some other Street FA QB is to have another QB Practice Squad option who is familiar with the Lions system. Whether that's the way Brad Holmes an s Co. will proceed remains to be seen.
