Defensive prospects for the Lions shine at Kentucky's pro day
Mock draft watch: CBS projects all 7 rounds for the Lions
.........
If Jamin Davis even lasts to pick # 41 in Round 2 ( I'm not counting on it ), he probably will be at or very near the top of the list of my Lions preferences with that pick. Unless there's medical or character concerns that I'm not aware of, there's practically no way that Davis will last to pick # 72 in Round 3. If the Lions trade down from pick # 7 to somewhere in the latter half of Round 1, Davis might even make plenty of sense for the Lions.
On the other hand, Kelvin Joseph, who was LSU, was suspended for their 2018 season Bowl Game for violating team rules. That led to Joseph transferring to Kentucky.
Because there was no Combine this year, it's more difficult to make comparisons between workouts of players. In addition, complete Pro Day workout numbers for players are more difficult to find Online. In the case of Jamin Davis, the info provided by many sources I checked is substantially limited. The numbers that were reported are ultra-impressive. However, the limited information makes it much harder to assess options with almost all draft pick spots. This on top of many players opting out of the 2020 College Football season and several less games played for many college teams because of the overall COVID-19 situation.

Breer: Lions 'connected' to Penn State LB Micah Parsons
.....
Unless Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell aren't on the same page with the Lions pick # 7 decision ( or any draft decision ), they will be making the Lions draft decisions. With Mike Disner also being part of the decision making process ( likely to a lesser degree ). If a consensus can't be reached, that's when Chris Spielman could be person who ends up making the call.
The info by Albert Breer sounds like pure speculation, with no substance of the direction the Lions are leaning towards with pick # 7.

The Nine: Micah Parsons could boost Detroit’s dreadful defense, but is the price right at Pick 7?
.........
From an on the field standpoint, one additional plus regarding Micah Parsons is he has very large hands ( 11" ). However, Parsons has below average arm length ( 31 1/ 2 " ).
The question marks with Parsons in coverage are concerning, considering the value of pick # 7 to the Lions. My greatest concern though by far with him, from the standpoint of how the Lions should proceed, is character. At best, it's an immaturity issue. At least from my point of view, this would be more than enough of a reason for the Lions not to draft Parsons in the 1st Round.

Lions attend LSU LB Jabril Cox's pro day
.......
In my Mock Draft, I'm projecting Jabril Cox being drafted by the Lions with pick # 72, in the early part of Round 3.
Mock Draft ( 2021 ) - DLF Members

The Eagles, Bengals, and Broncos, the three teams currently just in front of the Lions in the draft order in the early part of Round 3, all can use help to upgrade their respective off ball LB situations. Especially, the Eagles and Bengals.
Cox seems like a good value pick at # 72. I think that there's a greater chance Cox is taken before pick # 72 than after pick # 72. Cox could realistically be in play for the Lions with pick # 41 in Round 2, or in a trade down from that spot.

NFL draft preview: Detroit Lions need LB help, but how early is too early to take one?
.....
If the Lions trade down to pick # 15 or below, Zaven Collins would be amongst the players I hope would end up being the Lions 1st Round pick. Not many players the size of Collins have his coverage skills. Including, ball skills.
Chazz Surratt is a player on my Lions radar screen for the early part of Round 3. He's come a very long way since being converted from QB to LB after his Sophomore season with North Carolina. He's undersized for a LB but he can bring a combination of speed, overall coverage skills, and blitz skills to the Lions.

2021 NFL draft preview: Detroit Lions remain in serious need of some linebackers
.....
I doubt Zaven Collins will be available with the Lions 2nd Round pick # 41. It's probable that Jamin Davis will have been drafted by pick # 41.
Chris Spielman's input on the Ohio St. LBs could prove very beneficial for the Lions. Baron Browning is a high caliber athlete, who probably will be drafted in Round 2. The downside with Browning is his feel for the game isn't great. I think Pete Werner's likely landing point is Round 3. Werner doesn't have the physical tools Browning has. But Werner's instincts and overall football IQ are assets.
