In the days and weeks after the draft, it's likely that Brad Holmes will bring in more people in the Scouting / Personnel Departments he's worked with and / or come highly recommended. Even beyond the limitations because of the overall COVID-19 situation, the 2021 Draft probably will be the most challenging draft for Holmes as long as he remains Lions GM. As much as he wants to listen to the people around him, some of them probably are on different wave lengths.

This is the most open I can recall a Lions GM or key decision maker be with a Lions Draft decision.

It's easy to see why the Lions didn't trade down from pick # 7.

It's interesting to see that not only did the 49ers rank Trey Lance ahead of Justin Fields and Mac Jones, so did the Lions. And that the other 2 QBs weren't options for the Lions at # 7. I didn't think Jones would be but thought Fields might have been under some scenarios.

The culture that Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell have brought to the Lions, combined with their decisions, offers plenty of hope that the Lions will have a bright future with them in their respective positions.

A lot of question marks on the Lions for the 2021 season need to turn into positive answers over the course of the season for the Lions to substantially exceed consensus expectations. The youth in the Secondary, especially at CB, appears to make major growing pains for the unit inevitable.

Compared to Bob Quinn, Brad Holmes is an open book with the media.

It would be very surprising if the Lions have 7 WRs on the 53 man roster all season.

The relative lack of experience for the Lions WRs in regular season games ( not counting Special Teams ) might even be more of an obstacle than the Lions likely not having a # 1 caliber WR on the roster.
