Titans OC Arthur Smith becomes first head coaching candidate to earn second interview with Lions
Arthur Smith the front-runner for Falcons job, completes second interview
.........
The Ravens knocking the Titans out of the playoffs this past Sunday could turn out to be the difference in Arthur Smith getting multiple HC offers this coaching cycle. Because the Titans lost on Sunday, Smith has time to do more HC interviews AND has the opportunity ( by NFL rules ) for 2nd interviews. If the Titans would have advanced in the playoffs, teams could have interviewed Smith only once until the Titans season ended or if they reached the Super Bowl.
My gut feeling at this time is that Arthur Smith won't choose the Lions if he gets a HC offer from the Lions. I think Smith is going to end up with the Falcons, with the Jets the 2nd most likely place he lands.

"Ravens knocking the Titans out of the playoffs"
Nice game by the way ... I stongly support the Ravens in these playoffs, a great organization / team that has been able to overcome major injuries this season. Have you seen the backup QB Tyler Huntley, he has played a few snaps this season, he is a copycat of Lamar Jackson ... these guys have a knack to dig up some gems !
Also thanks for your insight about all these candidates GM / HC, there is a lot of coming and going and a lot of rumors, it resembles a GM / HC mock draft lol

The Ravens have been one of the best football organizations in the last 20 years. The fact that the Ravens have had only 3 Head Coaches since their beginning in 1996, is exhibit A why they have been a high caliber football organization. Physicality is one of their consistent themes.
I haven't seen Tyler Huntley play. Thanks for mentioning him. He's someone who I didn't have on my radar screen. With the Lions and other NFC North teams scheduled to play the Ravens in the 2021 season, I'm planning on watching more regular season Ravens games than I do in seasons they aren't playing against all the NFC North teams.
My pleasure with the GM and HC info and thoughts. It's a challenge to keep up with all of the announcements and rumors. The dominoes are finally falling with GM and HC openings. I think it's been a little slower than in a typical year because of the COVID-19 situation and more GM openings than usual.

Arthur Smith’s visit to Detroit reportedly canceled, emerges as the favorite in Atlanta
............
Because Arthur Smith doesn't even have Assistant NFL HC experience, let alone NFL HC experience, I'm comfortable if he decides to accept the Falcons HC job instead of having a 2nd interview with the Lions.
Brandon Staley would have been someone who I would have wanted the Lions to seriously consider, if not for the Lions hiring a GM without an NFL GM experience. Staley has done a tremendous job in his 1st season as LA Rams DC.
