Charles Davis 2021 NFL mock draft 2.0: Ja'Marr Chase reunites with Joe Burrow in Cincinnati ....
Charles Davis is one of my favorite NFL Analysts, both on live games and with his work with NFL Network. There's no question on this end that Ian Eagle ( who I also greatly enjoy listening to as Play by Play announcer for the Brooklyn Nets on the YES Network ) and Charles Davis should be the # 1 NFL Announcing team on CBS. As much as I respect Davis, I hope he's wrong about his Micah Parsons projection to the Lions at # 7.
I'm surprised that Charles Davis doesn't have DT Christian Barrymore going in Round 1.

Final 2021 NFL mock draft: QBs rule the draft, pushing pass catcher down to Detroit Lions
7. Detroit Lions Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
You can argue about the positional value of receiver, but Chase is too good to pass up in this scenario. Even in a deep receiver draft, he stands apart as a potential difference maker at a position where the Lions have an immense need. One alternative: I could see the Broncos or Panthers moving up to No. 7 if they fear missing out on whichever quarterback is left.
........
To me, this is the best case Lions scenario in this draft. Unless the Lions get a king's ransom from a team that wants Justin Fields, staying at # 7 for Ja'Marr Chase would be terrific.

Justin Rogers' 2021 NFL mock draft 3.0
7. Detroit Lions — Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon: With four quarterbacks off the board, Detroit’s ability to trade back and pick up additional picks takes a significant hit, but this scenario would also push one of the top non-QBs down into the franchise’s lap. Whether it’s Chase, Pitts or Sewell, it would be a win for the Lions. With Sewell, you plug the ultra-talented lineman in at right tackle and give yourself the makings of one of the best, young offensive fronts in the NFL.
........
Justin Rogers has a bold take in the Patriots passing on Mac Jones at # 15, trading down with the Bears instead.

We looked at 50 mock drafts for the Detroit Lions. Here's what we found
.......
There are some NFL Mock Drafts that have the Lions drafting Justin Fields at # 7.
My impression has been more Mock Drafts have the Lions taking DeVonta Smith than Jaylen Waddle. Hence, the 9 to 4 difference is surprising.
I would understand Christian Darrisaw at # 7 but don't expect the Lions to take him in that spot. More seem to be projecting Rashawn Slater to the Lions at # 7 over Darrisaw.
I would be extremely surprised if the Lions took Caleb Farley at # 7. Way too risky.

The following is my preference list order for the Lions at # 7, if a trade doesn't occur. I'm not including Trevor Lawrence because there's practically no chance he will be available::
1. Ja'Marr Chase 2. Patrick Surtain II 3. Penei Sewell 4. Justin Fields 5. Jaylen Waddle 6. Rashawn Slater 7. Jaycee Horn 8. Kyle Pitts 9. DaVonta Smith
