Packers 31, Lions 24: Game # 13 ( 2020 )

When Halapoulivaati Vaitai was placed on IR after the game at Carolina, I didn't think he would return again this season. Big V was unable to overcome the foot injury he's been dealing with since sometime prior to the beginning of the regular season. The injury also likely contributed to him not being able to finish the game in Jacksonville, with heat and humidity a major factor that mid October afternoon.
With the financial investment the Lions have in Big V for the 2021 season and the Lions having only a very slim chance at reaching the 2020 season playoffs, I think the risk of him playing again this season outweighs the reward.
I thought Da'Shawn Hand played well vs. the Packers for much of the game. It felt like his snap % per Packers drive dropped at some point in the 2nd half, compared to the 1st half. This latest injury suffered by Hand easily could have been the reason for this.
Unfortunately, injuries have been the primary theme of Da'Shawn Hand's time with the Lions since mid December, 2018.. Prior to that, Hand looked like a 1st Round player the Lions were able to draft in 4th Round.
The Lions have Hand under contract for one more season. A different Defensive system is likely. Hand has the ability to be effective in any Defensive System, providing the injuries didn't reduce his ability. Unless Hand's 2021 season is much more like his rookie 2018 season prior to when he went down at Arizona with the first of many injuries that had sidelined him, the Lions probably won't make a serious attempt to re-sign him.
Dan Skipper takes the place of Jeff Okudah on the Lions 53 man roster. It's not likely that Skipper will ever be more than a backup Tackle ( unless one or more injuries at the position occur ).
