Candidates for the Detroit Lions general manager vacancy
........
This thread relates to the following thread
Lions 2021 Head Coach options
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/833/lions-2021-head-coach-options
Of the potential Lions G.M. candidates mentioned in the article, Rick Smith is the one that on the surface I'm most comfortable with.
Two additional draft selections that he hit on are OLB-DE DE Whitney Mercilus and LB Zach Cunningham.
All of the up and comers mentioned are intriguing.
Ed Dodds, George Paton, and Scott Fitterer all have a connection with Darrell Bevell.
Ed Dobbs also has a connection with Colts Defensive Coordinator Matt Eberflus, who I hope the Lions interview for the HC position. The Lions saw first hand several weeks ago some of Eberflus' excellent work on display.
In addition, Dobbs and Fitterer have connections with 49ers Defensive Coordinator Robert Saleh, who seems like the most popular HC candidate for the Lions, for various reasons.
Mike Borgonzi has a connection with Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

Report: Lions have not asked Steelers for permission to interview Kevin Colbert
......
Unless the Lions fail to land the team's top GM choice and none of the other candidates substantionally moved the needle for the Lions upper level decision makers (which is unlikely), I don't expect Kevin Colbert to be interviewed by the Lions in 2021. Colbert has a history with the Lions but he's from Pittsburgh. If everything is close to being equal, Colbert's preference likely is to continue to work for the Rooney family as Steelers GM.
