The trade compensation the Lions got from the Raiders is about what I would have expected before learning of what the Lions received to trade down 12 spots from the upper part of Round 4.
Leki Fotu is the player most difficult losing ( assuming for the sake of discussion the Lions would have taken him, if remaining in the pick # 109 spot ) as a result of the trade down.
John Simpson and Solomon Kindley are arguably better options than Logan Stenberg. One thing in particular I'm confident about, regardless how the Lions rated any of these 3 players compared to Stenberg, the Lions valued getting a 5th Round pick over remaining in the pick # 109 spot. Because the Lions made the trade with the Colts to move up for Jonah Jackson in Round 3, that made trading down in Round 4 more important than it would have been otherwise.
Logan Stenberg seems like the opposite of Jonah Jackson in that Stenberg is a much better run blocker than he is as a pass blocker. Leverage and lateral movement have been problematic for Stenberg as a pass blocker Stenberg committed 14 penalties in the 2019 season, which was the 2nd highest amount on the FBS, in the 2019 season.
One huge positive in particular with Stenberg is his leadership/ intangibles. His intelligence is a major plus.
My take is because the Lions traded down and in process landed a 5th Round pick, the decision to draft Stenberg with pick # 121 is one that I'm ok with. I envisioned Stenberg going later on in Round 4 or in Round 5.
As for the players that went in the 4th Round after Stenberg, CBs Reggie Robinson ( Press man to man coverage and Kick Blocking are major strengths of his ) and Amik Robertson ( undersized but great ball skills ) looked like good options, even though the Lions drafted Jeff Okudah with pick # 3 of the entire draft. Robertson probably will be a Nickel CB with the Raiders ).
