Nick Williams is a classic example of a late bloomer. His production in the 2019 season was a pleasant surprise for the Bears. My impression of Nick Williams in watching him is his effort is his probably his greatest strength as a player. Good addition for the Lions.

My guess is the Lions are viewing Nick Williams as a rotation player in the interior Defensive Line.

Because Nick Williams hasn't logged that many NFL snaps, the fact that he turned 30 this past January is less of a concern as it would be for a Defensive Lineman with much mileage.

While Nick Williams was a good backup rotation piece for the Bears, something I am realistically hopeful he will be for the Lions, a starting caliber DT is needed.

I think Nick Williams' maturity continues to be evident. He's much more level headed than a high % of other NFL players.

Because the Lions depth in the interior of the Defensive Line is highly questionable and the Lions starting caliber options are limited, I'm of the opinion that Nick Williams is much more important to the Lions hopes in the 2020 season than most believe is the case.
