Free agency tracker: Lions have reported interest in CB Jalen Mills, Graham Glasgow expected to be out
(3:19 p.m.) -- More than three hours into the negotiating period -- which, let’s be honest, is the real start of free agency -- and Darius Slay is still in Detroit. I still think the Lions are still going to try their best to trade him, but no matter how that shakes out, they still need a cornerback. They signed Justin Coleman and Rashaan Melvin in free agency last year, but Melvin is about to become a free agent again and Coleman was a disappointment. Amani Oruwariye returns, but banking on him to make a big enough to be a full-time starter in Year 2 seems misguided. With that said, the Lions are expected to be players on the cornerback market. The first name I’ve seen them connected to: Jalen Mills. The Lions have interest in him, according to NBCSports. Mills started nine games for Philadelphia last year, picking off one pass and ranking 99th at the position according to ProFootballFocus.

This isn't surprising based on the Lions need at CB and that Lions DC Cory Undlin was Jalen Mills' DB Coach in the 4 seasons Mills was with the Eagles.
Jalen Mills has plenty of talent and would seem to fit the Lions Defensive system the team used in Matt Patricia's first two seasons as Lions HC. The major concern is Mills missed the last half of the 2018 season and first half of the 2019 season ( he played in 9 games ) with a foot injury. The situation is compounded by the limitation of being able to bring him in for a physical.
