Detroit Lions reportedly releasing veteran DT Snacks Harrison
………........
This new thread is a continuation of the following thread:
Lions sign DT Damon 'Snacks' Harrison to 1 yr contract ext.

This news isn't remotely close to shocking. It's not even surprising, ( at least on this end ) once Damon 'Snacks' Harrison mentioned after the season that he was considering retirement because his body wasn't right.
Damon Harrison turned 31 back in November, 2019. The older a player gets, the more likely it will be longer and more difficult for him to recover from injuries. It's hard to question the decision to release Harrison. Because the Lions are doing it well before the start of the FA period, Harrison will have a head start to shop his services. It gives him a better chance of getting a contract that will satisfy him and being in the situation of his choice. I wish him well.

Definitely not questioning this decision. I surely appreciated and enjoyed Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison’s efforts during the 2018 NLF season; not so much last season. The drop off was huge. Sure...he MAY return to that level; but I’m good with the decision AND the freeing up of $6 million in salary cap.

Joe, tying in with what you mentioned, it looks like there are going to be plenty of options between Free Agency and the Draft for the Lions in the Interior Defensive Line. This is a position unit that will need to be addressed at least 3 times in the coming days, weeks, and/ or months.
