Eagles will allow Nigel Bradham to become a free agent
……………..
Nigel Bradham could realistically be someone the Lions have serious interest in signing at a lower price. New Lions Defensive Coordinator Cory Undlin was the Eagles Defensive Backs Coach of the Eagles during the entire time that Bradham was with the Eagles.
Because Nigel Bradham turns 31 in September, a contract would likely be no longer than 2 seasons. With the possibility of a 3rd year team option.

Raiders release Tahir Whitehead
………………
I don't anticipate the Lions will make a serious attempt to bring Tahir Whitehead back. Whitehead left as an UFA the first year Matt Patricia was the Lions HC. It didn't seem like the Lions made a strong effort to re-sign Whitehead. Now, two years later, he's less than a month from turning 30.

Kyle Van Noy hopes time with Patriots isn’t done; reportedly open to reuniting with Lions
What a Detroit Lions-Kyle Van Noy reunion could look like at linebacker
……………..
I would be surprised, not shocked, if the Lions are the team that ends up signing Kyle Van Noy this year. Even if Van Noy hits the open market, between Bob Quinn being the Lions GM who traded Van Noy to New England and the awkward situation for Van Noy to be in if he signs with the Lions, my expectation is he will sign with another team. With the Patriots a more likely possibility to retain his services than Van Noy going back to the Lions.
Miami, NY Giants, Tennessee, and Houston all have a Head Coach with connections to the Bill Belichick led Patriots. I think all of them individually have a better chance of ending up with Van Noy in 2020 than the Lions have. Even if the Lions want to bring him back.

Detroit Lions have plenty of linebackers but likely won't stay out of free agency
…………………..
In past seasons, the decision on whether a team will exercise the 5th year option on a former 1st Round pick needed to be made by early May. That's likely the case this year, unless the deadline is pushed back because of the Coronavirus situation.
My guess is that there's only around a 40 % chance the Lions will exercise the 5th year option on Jarrad Davis.
None of the Free Agents from other teams listed in this article, that project as starters, likely will end up signing with the Lions in 2020. Kamu Grugier-Hill is more likely to sign with the Lions. But he projects as a Special Teamer, who could be a role player on expected passing downs.
One concern in particular is that Jahlani Tavai is coming on a shoulder injury that makes him a huge question mark for the 2020 season.

Nick Kwiatkowski heading to Raiders
……………..
Nick-Kwiatkowski was impactful in the 2 games against the Lions in the 2019 season. The same against the Vikings in the Bears win in the early part of the 2019 season.
As a backup LB who filled in because of injury, Kwiatkowski proved more than the Bears could have realistically hoped for. It's not surprising that his services were in demand and that the Raiders were aggressive in reaching a contract agreement with him.

Mark Barron, Anthony Chickillo among three Steelers cuts
…………….
If the Lions have interest in Mark Barron, it likely would be in a hybrid LB/ S role.
Anthony Chickillo could be of interest to the Lions as a combination backup OLB/ DE.
Both players likely will have a major reduction of pay compared to what they received from the Steelers.

Kyle Van Noy leaving the Patriots for the Dolphins
……………..
No surprise on this end that Kyle Van Noy didn't sign with the Lions for a 2nd stint with the team and that he agreed to sign with the Miami Dolphins. It's best for both the Lions and KVN that a reunion isn't occurring this year. Once the guaranteed money is known, it will be easier to access the contract.
