Kyle Meinke’s 2020 NFL mock draft 1.0: Lions land Ohio State star Chase Young
…………..
If the Redskins don't trade down, I'm currently anticipating them drafting Chase Young with pick # 2. Even though they would have a major need at LT if Trent Williams isn't back and relatively healthy and that they have made 3 draft selections in Round 1 in recent years on the Defensive Line and / or Edge Rusher ( all good or promising players ), the value of Young is probably too good to pass at # 2 ( barring a good trade down offer ).
If Chase Young is available with pick # 3, I hope the Lions draft him unless another team is willing to overpay substantially to move up to pick # 3.

I would love to see Chase Young still on the board when the Lions are on the clock at #3; but it’s certainly not something I’m expecting.

Joe, I think what you mentioned is a great approach to have as a Lions fan. Right now, the chances of Chase Young being available with pick # 3 are less than 50 %. It would be fair to say much less. What happens in the months and weeks leading up to the draft could change the dynamics, one way or the other.

Ben Raven’s 2020 NFL mock draft 2.0: Lions still trade back but find new dance partner
………………
Trading down and landing LB Isaiah Simmons with pick # 6 likely would be a good draft outcome for the Lions.
Josh Jones being the 2nd Offensive Lineman taken in the draft and going as high as pick # 8 isn't remotely the norm at this time.
A run on Offensive Lineman and then WRs in the second quarter of Round 1 is a theme in this mock draft.
Eight WRs went in Round 1 in this Mock Draft. That would give the Lions more viable options at other positions with pick # 35 in Round 2.

Report: Lions met with receptive response from potential trade partners in NFL draft
……………….
I like the trade scenario with the LA Chargers the best of the scenarios mentioned in the article. The Lions would still be able to draft a top 6 player who would fill a need, with in return getting a high 2nd Round pick, and a 4th in 2021. If Chase Young isn't available at # 3, I would not hesitate to make this trade if a better offer isn't on the table.

Kyle Meinke’s 2020 NFL mock draft 3.0: Rush on QBs will push Chase Young to Lions
…………….
If the draft were today, I believe the Redskins would remain in the # 2 spot and draft Chase Young. With the Lions drafting Jeff Okudah if a trade down doesn't occur. Isaiah Simmons, followed by Derrick Brown, would be next most likely players the Lions would draft under the scenario that Young is off the board.
The Jets signed Seahawks T George Fant as an UFA. I'm not sure which Tackle position the Jets are planning on using him. Mekhi Becton has played both Tackle positions but seems like a better fit for RT.
LB Patrick Queen doesn't seem like a good enough fit for the Patriots because he's undersized. Queen probably will be taken in the 1st Round. If he's available at # 35 in the early part of Round 2, I don't think the Lions would take him because of the system fit factor.
If Kenneth Murray lasts to pick # 35, I think he would be a primary contender to be the Lions selection in that spot. That would be great value!

NFL mock draft 4.0: Predicting the Detroit Lions' first- and second-round picks
…...……….
It's far from a given that the Jaguars will have the # 1 pick in 2021. They might be much better in the 2020 season than many are expecting.
Javon Kinlaw is a high quality NFL Draft prospect. However, he's a long way from effectively replacing DeForest Buckner. The latter is an elite all around Defenive Lineman.
Zack Baun would be well worth considering with pick # 35 in Round 2 if the Lions don't address the edge pass rush in Round 1. Baun's skills, versatility, and intangibles would make him a welcome addition to the Lions.

2020 NFL Mock Draft: Three wild trades as Patriots get surprise QB, Tom Brady gets some big help
…………..
The Lions can't afford to pass on Chase Young for another player with pick # 3 unless there's something about Young the Lions uncovered that would warrant passing on him.
Derrick Brown with pick # 9 would be a huge break for the Jaguars. Almost as much of a break they got with DE Josh Allen falling to pick # 7 in the 2019 Draft.
It would be very surprising if Justin Herbert lasts to pick # 19. It's realistically possible Herbert could even be pick # 2.

Mock draft watch: PFF's 3-rounder gets the Lions a trade and Jeff Okudah
………...…..
I would be more than happy with this draft outcome for the Lions, assuming Chase Young is not available with pick # 3.
Austin Jackson probably will need a full off-season in the Lions strength and conditioning program. More overall strength is probably the # 1 issue for him as an NFL Draft prospect. Jackson has a very high long term ceiling. Some others are projecting him to go in the latter part of Round 1. If the Lions ended up with pick # 5 and # 26, with Jeff Okudah and Austin Jackson are the outcome, I think the Lions would have done very well. The selections in Round 2 and 3 would make plenty of sense as well.
