6 things to watch in Lions-Patriots joint practices
…………………………
This new thread relates to the following threads:
Lions 2019 Training Camp Preview
The only downside to joint practices with a team that has a relatively similar approach with training camp is tbe chances of injuries increase. That's a huge downside. Otherwise, the benefits of these practices far exceed when a team practices by itself. The benefits of working with the Patriots under a HC and QB that won 6 Super Bowls and played in 9 together, are enormous. The Patriots are the standard of the NFL and Professional team sports in North America in the early part of this century.

Former Lion Kyle Van Noy basking in success with Patriots ………………
A question that has come to mind for me on multiple occasions is what did former Lions GM Martin Mayhew envision when trading up for Kyle Van Noy in Round 2 of the 2015 Draft? Even factoring in injuries, Van Noy didn't make enough progress in Teryl Austin's scheme for Bob Quinn to want him to keep Van Noy around.

Lions training camp observations: Tom Brady 1, Detroit 0
………………
With so many players in the Lions front 7 on Defense out because of injury, I'm anticipating Tom Brady and co. are going to handle the Lions Defense effectively more often than not throughout the week.
Other than the penalty in today's joint practice with the Patriots, it sounds like Danny Amendola is having a strong training camp.
Marvin Jones continues to make big plays.
Miles Killebrew is helping his cause in training camp. When factoring in his pretty high quality Special Contributions, with the improvements he's making on Defense, Killebrew probably isn't currently on the roster bubble.
Andrew Adams could easily be in competition with Tavon Wilson for a backup Safety spot. Adams more likely than not is ahead if the two are indeed in competition for a roster spot. Playmaking is a substantial part of the roster equation.

Lions training camp observations: Matthew Stafford sharp on Day 2 vs. Patriots
……………..
Matthew Stafford stepped up twice in recent days after critics were getting louder. Stafford has a history of rising to the occasion in crunch time. Too often in past seasons, teammates didn't step up.
Danny Amendola should prove to be an asset this season if he remains relatively healthy.
Special Teams are very important for FBs and backup TEs.
Yodny Cajuste is a rookie Offensive Tackle. Someone else very likely was covering Nick Bawden on two of the plays in which Bawden was successful.
Taylor Decker needs to be more consistent as a pass blocker than in at least a couple of practices this summer.
Brandon Powell's knee injury could be a huge setback for him and the Lions. Powell has substantial playmaking abilities.
Justin Coleman should be fine. A much greater concern on this end is whether the Lions will get good enough CB play on the outside other than from Darius Slay.
